CATA Bus Rapid Transit Project Waits on Federal Budget

CATA Bus Rapid Transit Project Waits on Federal Budget

LANSING - Meridian Township Trustee Dan Opsommer says the CATA Bus Rapid Transit project--which would transform route 1 to work like a light rail system--is waiting on federal funding.

Only 10 communities across the country are approved for funding for projects like CATA BRT.

If put in place, busses would come around every six minutes along the Grand River/Michigan Avenue corridor.

The hope for this project, is to create riders who elect to ride because of convenience, in order to alleviate traffic on Grand River, says Opsommer.
