EAST LANSING - The Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) held a special ceremony to honor high school students from 18 different Lansing area schools who competed in the Student Art Exhibit 2020 from January 29th through February 26th.
The ceremony began at 6:30 pm and refreshments were served, as well as motivational guest speakers that have career's in the art industry, Lauren Brumbach, a charcoal artist, as well as Oil and acrylic and Tiffany Marie another artist and owner of LaFille Gallery who is know for creating concrete sculptures and wall art.
Students artwork were broken down in three different categories, the Juror Award, People's Choice, Social Media, School Spirit, as well honorable mentions. The top three winners and honorable mention received cash prizes during their recognition. The People's Choice was determined by votes online at the exhibit's website or in person at the MSUFCU Headquarters. The School Spirit Award was given to the school that was most represented in the online voting and in person, with the award going to Dewitt High School.
HOMTV spoke with the Executive Director of the Art Council Of Greater Lansing, Meghan Martin and she says, "We have the privilege of representing the Tri-County region here in the Capital Area, Eaton, Clinton, and Ingham Counties. It's fantastic to see what's coming out of our schools in this area and see the young talent, including our art educators what there able to get from these new compassionate students. This is going to be our next generation of arts and cultural leaders."
Deidre Davis, the Chief Marketing Officer of MSUFCU also spoke with HOMTV and says, "This event has been going on for more 10 years since the credit union has been involved with the high school art exhibit, and were thrilled to be a part of each and every year."
