OKEMOS, MI - The Meridian Cares About You: Health & Safety Expo, a brand new family-friendly community event, was held at the Marketplace on the Green pavilion on Wednesday, May 10 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
This event was co-hosted by the Meridian Township Board, Okemos and Haslett Public Schools. Free food and beverages were provided, as well as musical entertainment and giveaways. Everyone in attendance could visit different booths and had the opportunity to connect with neighborhood resources and speak with mental health professionals, as well as local law enforcement, and other advocacy groups from around the Lansing area.
“What we're trying to achieve today is education and bringing all these different organizations that have free services with mental health, public health, and public safety, and want people to take advantage of their services when they need it," said Township Trustee Marna Wilson. "We’ve had so many challenges lately and we put this event together to let people know we’re here for them and that we really care about our community. I’m very proud we’re able to execute this marvelous event and have it open to everyone. It’s a beautiful night and we couldn’t ask anymore than to just get people to come out and enjoy themselves.”
