Dedication of the Haslett Library Community Room

Dedication of the Haslett Library Community Room

HASLETT, MI - The Haslett Library was built a few years ago with the help of numerous community leaders including Malinda Barr and former Meridian Township Trustee Andy Such.

The community room was celebrated last week as the last piece of the Haslett Library move and as an accessible place for the entire community, no matter the library hours.

Little by little money was collected over the years to construct the new library and now it stands as an integral part of the Haslett community.

Current Meridian Township Supervisor Ronald Styka was at the dedication and spoke about how great libraries make great communities.

"Meridian, we call ourselves a Prime Community, that's our new label," Styka said. "Part of what makes us prime is our school districts, which are incredibly outstanding, and our libraries for heavens sake! We have excellent libraries and this is a wonderful, wonderful addition to our community."

The community room has been utilized by the public since it opened in 2011 and has continually received functional improvements. Head librarian Ann Chapman says the room is rented out about 500 times each year.
