Okemos High School Theatre Performs Cinderella

OKEMOS - A dream is a wish your heart makes. For the actors of the Okemos High School Theatre production of Cinderella, it truly is a dream come true.

“Ever since I was little I’ve looked up on the stage, seen my sibling’s friends and stuff like that and I wanted to be them and I wanted to be up there. And now I’m up here and it’s kinda surreal," said Troy Forbush, also known as Prince Charming.

Cinderella agrees with her prince.

“Getting to rip off all of these clothes and have this ball gown underneath. It’s so much fun. It’s like a dream coming true," said Isabel Rodriguez, who plays Cinderella.

In order to make this dream come true, they had to do a lot more than just wishing.

According to Johnny Mocny, who is part of the ensemble, they began practicing around a month and a half ago.

In addition to the long hours on the stage, are the long hours off of it, preparing the set.

Rod Poland, a parent of one of the actors was asked to be the head of sets. He said he started the carriage a week after Christmas.

After weeks of preparing, the cast seems confident the audience will enjoy this modern day twist on a classic fairytale.

“I imagine like the little girls in the audience being like ‘woah is that real?," said Rodriguez.
