Students Gather in Solidarity for Immigration Ban

EAST LANSING - Students, faculty and residents gathered around the rock on Michigan State University's campus this afternoon in a peaceful demonstration against the recent immigration ban.

The Rally was hosted by members of MSU organizations, Graduate Employees Union and the Persian Student Association. These organizations felt that they needed to put together a gathering where people could have their voices heard.

Sara Bijani, vice president of the Graduate Employees Union said, "A lot of students on campus are very confused by what's going on and they feel really, really alone."

Michigan State University faculty members as well as members from the Michigan Senate and Lansing City Council were just a few speakers at the rally. They made the point to explain that this community is a welcoming one and that hate has no room at MSU.

"We are hoping to continue to elevate people's voices who are being impacted by these policies and to really let them know that people are listening and that their stories and experiences matter," said Bijani.
