UPDATE: LANSING - In what seems to be a perfect match, the Michigan State Police teamed up with a new partner to help keep the at-risk youth out of trouble.

Members of the Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters Alliance traveled to the Michigan State Police training academy in Lansing to form a partnership to help keep kids on the right path. The idea behind the organization is to hinder activities such as violence, delinquency as well as drug and alcohol use.

"In many of our communities, particularly in Flint, the youth crime is rising at a tremendous rate, so the partnership only makes sense to come together," said
Reta Stanley, President/CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint.

Teaming up, the two will be able to cross-train, improve the screening process and increase at-risk referrals. The targeted areas include Detroit, Flint, Pontiac, Saginaw as well as the capital region.
