Lansing Lugnuts Summer Preview

UPDATE: LANSING - Winter is over and spring is rolling in, so what does that mean for American's everywhere? Baseball, and lots of it. If you're an avid fan of the game and can't make it to Detroit for the Tigers, well you're in luck. The Lansing Lugnuts at Cooley Law School Stadium can feed your baseball hunger.

Jesse Goldberg-Strassler, head of media relations for the Lugnuts, said, "as far as what we want our fans to experience and what we want them to expect, we want them to expect a good time.”

Since they can't control the caliber of players, the best ones being promoted up to the majors, playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, they try to accomplish that goal in a couple different ways.

Goldberg-Strassler explained, "that the food and beverages that they order are just delicious and separate from your usual ball park fare. We have gourmet hot dogs all sorts of different choices to choose from there’s a craft beer garden for instance to really stand us apart.”

Between innings the Lugnuts Pit Crew keep the crowed pepped up and entertained throughout the game.

Jordan Spitzley, Lugnuts Pit Crew member, said, “we’re kinda like cheerleaders, but not really.”

Giana Nieto, also a Lugnuts Pit Crew member, said, “we get paid to have fun, dance on the dug outs, walk around with big lug, set up games for contestants, get contestants.”

I wanted to know what their favorite part about being a pit crew member was and the answer was pretty much unanimous.

Josh Holliday, Lugnuts Pit Crew member, said,“I’m a big performer, so I like dancing on the dug outs.”

And Spitzley said, “my favorite thing that I’ve ever done here has to be dancing on the dug outs.”

So over the summer if you need something to do check out the lug nuts and their pit crew dancing on the dugout.
