East Side Stars v Okemos Chief's

UPDATE: EAST LANSING - The East Side Stars and Okemos Chief's varsity hockey matched up last Friday at East Lansing's Suburban Ice Arena for their final regular season game.

The first period was filled with hit, after hit, after hit.
But, with a minute fifty left Kyle Nussdorfer thread the needle to Tristan Eggenberger who slid by the stars D to place it top right giving Okemos the early 1-0 lead at the end of the first.

In the second, the East Side Stars began showing signs of life as they peppered the Okemos goalie.

Defenseman Patrick O'Donnel fired in a high shot. After a bit of a struggle behind the net, Captain Chris Hagan popped it in tying the game at 1 all.

Okemos responded quickly shooting down the Stars by putting two more in the back of the net forcing them to make a goalie change. Both goals came off the stick of senior Ryan Restum closing out the second with a lead of 3-1.

Into the third both teams traded goals, with Okemos tacking on one more bringing the score to 5-2. Both of the Chief’s goals came from Ryan Restum, bringing him to a solid Four on the day.

Before the game Okemos Head Coach, Bill Sipola, told his team, “don’t leave anything out there we have to go a hundred and ten percent and a ya know the seasons gonna be over before you know it.”

Michigan varsity hockey state playoffs are set to start February 27th.

Both teams hope to make a deep run in the tournament.
