The 6th Annual Auction For Advocacy

EAST LANSING - The Small Talk Children's Advocacy Center held it's 6th Annual Auction for Advocacy at the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union Headquarters in East Lansing on September 12th. The event was held to support the end of child abuse and honor the children the Center serves.

The founder of Small Talk Lisa McCormick spoke to everyone in attendance before the auction began with over 200 unique items, such as autographed sports gear, season tickets to sporting events, a 65 inch 4K TV, and more. There were also 11 different restaurants, as well as a open bar sponsored by by Grewal Law, PLLC. Victims of child sexual abuse came to the podium to say a few words on how they were healed and moving forward in life.

The Executive Director of Small Talk Alex Brace said, "We've helped so many children over the years. Thousands of children in the Ingham and Eaton County areas, and it's really important for us to continue to aid them in their healing, but then also to celebrate victories they have made as survivors of child sexual abuse and honor the progress they have made in their healing."

Brace added, "It's great for the community to get involved with issues that cannot be solved by one person, or by one organization. We need the community support to be able to make sure the children have a place to heal while child sexual abuse continues to be a problem in our community."

He concluded saying that, "100% of the proceeds will go right back into Small Talk and that money will allow us to continue to provide the services we provide, which includes counseling services at no cost, parental interviewing and prevention programming for our community."
