EAST LANSING - This week at the Wharton Center the Broadway smash Anastasia has taken over the Cobb Hall Theatre. This show takes us back to the early 1900s where a young girl loses her family in the midst of a Russian War.
Anastasia is a young girl on a journey to find out who she is because she’s always had a longing desire to know. Her hope is what drives her when she has a run-in with a con artist and his assistant.
They train her to be the princess they need to present her to a very important person. In a sit down interview with the principal characters of the show, Lila Coogan as Anastasia, and Stephen Bowers as Dmitry, some insight was given as to favorite moments in the show.
Lila Coogan, who’s most previous credit was in Broadway’s Mary Poppins (Jane Banks), stated that her favorite moments were actually seeing how everything came together. Especially scenes she was a part of but wasn’t able to see the special effects around her.
Stephen Bowers made his debut with Anastasia this past spring. His favorite moment of the show was a scene where both characters, along, with ensemble characters, were on the skeleton of a train and how it moved on stage.
Anastasia will run from Jan. 15th-Jan 20th in the Great Cobb Hall of the Wharton Center. For Questions call 517-432-2000 or 1-800-WHARTON.
