MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On December 7th, Julie Brixie was recognized for her 20 years of service in the Meridian Township Community.
Brixie who was just recently elected on Nov. 6 to represent Michigan’s 69th House District, served on the Meridian Township Zoning Board of Appeals, Land Preservation Advisory Board, Township Board, and since 2008 served as the Township Treasurer.
Many spoke on her behalf during the farewell ceremony including Mark Meadows, East Lansing Mayor, board members, as well as Curtis Hertel Jr, State Senator for the 23rd district.
“The thing I’m gonna miss most about my job here as treasurer of Meridian Township is the people, whether it be our residents and customers who come in everyday to pay their water bill, tax bill, or a building permit, or the folks who come in to register to vote,” said Brixie.
Dec. 7 was her last day, and shortly after her farewell Meridian Township Trustee Phil Deschaine was sworn in to take her place.
“The people here are what make Meridian Township so special. The people we work with in the organization, the people we work for in the community, the business owners, it's definitely all about the people. I’m really gonna miss the people,” she said.
Brixie is set to begin her term in January 2019.
