MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Harris Nature Center is known for the many events and activities they put on for families and kids around the Township. Once a month they host story time with Chicory and Hickory the chipmunk. Families and kids can come hear story time, play games, do crafts and walk the trails.
Allison Goodman assistant naturalist at the nature center says, "it gets the kids, young kids about four and under out on the trails with their parents." For $3 kids can hear stories from Chicory the Chipmunk, play games and go on a trail walk with an employee who teaches about the surrounding animals and does crafts.
The Harris Nature Center does a lot in the community and for the community. Goodman says they're always really involved they do campfires, trail walks and are currently building a Beaver Lodge playground. The center is also full of animals to look at and learn about and the trails are available to walk on from dawn till dusk.
Children can learn from Chicory and Hickory at the next story time on November 16th.
