MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - From working together as a team in the office to coming together as a team on the field. This is influenced by the Summer Recreation co-ed leagues.
Meridian Township Parks and Recreation hosts these friendly competition with varying sports and games to participate in each season. And the summer leagues have officially kicked off, providing adults the opportunity to become active.
Parks and Recreation Specialist Mike Devlin said there are three sessions of adult kickball going on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Three sessions for adult volleyball Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday, as well adult softball Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
"Our jobs is more or less to put people in our parks that is what we do," Devlin said. "As you can see behind us and beside us, people are enjoying a great game of kickball."
Kickball is one game, Sally Kalso leads, as she has created a team among her work. Kalso is the coach for the Marshall Music team and has been involved in Summer Recreation Leagues for 8 years now.
"This is the first game of the season. I have no clue how we are going to do, but boy I hope we have fun. That's all that matters," she said. "We get out here. We have fun, you know just have a ball."
