MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - New additions are coming to Towner Road and Saginaw Highway in Meridian Township.
The former Applegate Driving Range will soon become Towner Road Park.
The 23 acre park aims to attract many visitors and will be spot for community sports teams to play.
Development plans for the site include two soccer and lacrosse fields, two baseball diamonds, a paved trail, a pavilion, restrooms, six pickle ball courts and a playground.
"It's going to be well worth it," said Parks and Recreation Director LuAnn Maisner. "There are a lot of parents who are very excited and have been with us on this project for a long time. The people of Haslett have been waiting for a sports park to call their own."
Development plans of the park started back in 2015 and the total cost of the project is about $1.8 million.
Construction is well underway and will continue for the next two years with an expected debut in 2019.
