MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center is welcoming a new attraction that children and parents are going to love. The Beaver Lodge Play Structure is currently being constructed within the Nature Exploration area.
Imaginations will run wild as children will be able to play the role of beavers swimming around their beaver dam. The structure will include sticks around the entire structure to mimic the beaver dam. Children will also get the chance to play underneath a glass deck that is meant to represent the water that beavers swim in.
June Hicks, a Board member for the Harris Nature Center Foundation described the construction of the play structure.
"It will be a two-level structure and kids will be able to enter on the lower level and they will be able to climb up the ladder and there's also going to be an accessible entrance. The upper level will have a deck which simulates water and that's going to be glass and that's the glass they use in buildings that can withstand weight and people and running."
The completion of the structure should be around the end of July. Studio Intrigue, the company in charge of the construction is setting up the playscape at no cost to the Harris Nature Center. If anyone is interested in donating, Studio Intrigue along with the Harris Nature Center is currently fundraising and is open to donations.
