MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Residents commemorated the 175th anniversary of Meridian Township with a carousel at the Township's first "Fun in the Sun" event.
Lake Lansing once featured a popular roller coaster known as the Cyclone as well as the infamous carousel built in 1942, but was later demolished in 1971.
With a "Carnival" theme in mind, Meridian Township paired up with sponsors such as Playmakers of Okemos and Al Lin's Floral to relive the amusement park memory.
The Fun in the Sun Event featured a variety of family fun activities including live musical performances, face painting, Henna Tattoos by Anshu, Jenga, a dunk tank provided by Kiwanis Club of Haslett, a surprise visit from Bell of Beauty and the Beast and much more.
