LCC Interpreter Program Prepares for Sync Performance

LANSING - Upbeat song and dance all performed in sign language. In less than a week, the Lansing Community College Interpreter Training Program students will be taking the stage for their annual SYNC event.

On Sunday April 30th at 1pm and 4pm, the performance will be held at the Dart Auditorium.

This is one event, students say they look most forward too. As it gives them a chance to show off what they study and practice in a fun way.

A program that trains students how to communicate effectively within the deaf community.

LCC student, Theodore Owens, who is in the deaf community said he appreciates the SYNC performance and all the training interpreting students work to make it possible.

"Some typical concerns and complaints of our community is you know we can't hear the music and we have this lack of communication there," Owens said. "However with SYNC the interpreting students from the program here do interpret what we would be missing with those lyrics and we really feel that we are able to appreciate the same things they are able to."
