OKEMOS - Chick-fil-A's grand opening kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 30th. Many local officials were there to celebrate the new restaurant coming to Meridian Township.
During the grand opening campout, the first 100 customers in line received a card granting them free Chick-fil-A once a week for an entire year. While the campout was going on, the campers had the opportunity to volunteer with the Greater Lansing Food Bank by bagging food for those in need in the community.
The giving back didn't stop there. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Chick-fil-A donated books to St. Vincent Catholic Charities. The new stores is looking forward to giving back to the community while serving their customers, according to owner Nick Biggee.
The Okemos Chick-fil-A has already helped the community in more ways than one and has also brought in 91 new jobs to Meridian.
