MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Planning Commission approved a resolution to recommend approval of a Mixed Use Plan Unit Development for Capstone to construct Hannah Farms East at Hannah Boulevard and Eyde Parkway at their March 27th meeting.
Hannah Farms East originally had two-hundred and ninety residential units but that number was reduced to one-hundred and fifty-nine units.
The site will contain an apartment building that is four stories high, a two story parking garage, and townhouses.
These housing units will be built close to Michigan State University's campus.
The Commission also added electric car charging stations and public art to the resolution that was passed.
Despite the unanimous approval of the resolution some commissioners expressed concerns about the project and how it may impact traffic in the area.
"We really need to address this before anything is done on this property and the surrounding properties," said Commissioner John Scott-Craig. "I think what we want to do at this point is make a very strong point that nothing more can happen in that area, not just in the eighty-one acres."
The commission also passed a resolution to recommend a Special Use Permit at Hannah Boulevard and Eyde Parkway to allow the developer to construct buildings greater than twenty-five thousand square feet.
