Haslett Community Shows Off Talent at Annual Fundraiser

HASLETT - The Haslett community showed off their talent at the largest fundraising event for Haslett Schools.

Donors dined on an Italian dinner, sampled various desserts and even got to see Haslett's youth has to offer at their sixth annual "Got Taste Got Talent" event. All of the food and desserts were donated from local restaurants in the community. Competitors in the talent show battled for first place in each of their divisions. Talent ranged from signers to dancers and musicians.

"This event is important because it brings the community together first of all," said Kim Fackler member of the Foundation for Haslett Schools. " It's also important because it helps our schools to be better, it helps with extra funding that's just not there in our regular budget."

Money raised goes to the Haslett School District and is distributed to all five schools. The goal of the fundraiser is to make learning more engaging for students.

The fundraiser raked in approximately $27,000.

Majority of the money is used to bring new technology to schools to improve learning techniques and material in classrooms.
