LANSING - Construction season will soon be in full swing in Michigan. Although construction will be heavy in some areas, the Tri-County Area won’t be seeing much of that work come from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) this year.

MDOT puts together a five year plan in order to prepare for their biggest projects 5 years in advance. Media Representative Kari Arend from MDOT said that their engineers and planners prioritize what work needs to be done driving and examining the roads themselves.

Projects will begin sometime between March and April. Arend explained, "probably one of our biggest projects is a resurfacing job on US-127 near Mason. A single-lane closure down there in the southern part of Ingham County, but it won't be a big impact to traffic."

MDOT’s bigger projects for this year are on US-23 north of Ann Arbor and in Downtown Jackson.
