EAST LANSING - On Tuesday, Feb. 23rd Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) held its 10th annual student art exhibit showcase.
Students and parents from dozens of schools across the Lansing area, gathered to hear the winners of the 2017 art showcase. The event this year was held at MSUFCU’s headquarters located in East Lansing, MI. There were many honorable mentions that night from East Lansing High School and the Lansing Catholic High School, but the highlight of the evening was when two winners from Meridian Township were announced.
Kate Horst from Haslett High School coming in first place, and Haley Mayes from Okemos High School taking second place. Both students were very grateful and excited about their big win.
During the event Tony Hendricks, a local muralist in Lansing, also spoke and gave great advice for students and aspiring artists. He said, “I’ve struggled as a local artist but don’t let that stop you from pursuing your passion and interests.”
Many of the students may have taken that advice to heart as all the artwork at this showcase was amazing, if you would like to see the student’s artwork it is showcased on MSUFCU’s Facebook page as well.
