LANSING - A protest, for peace. On January 20, after 45th United States President Donald J. Trump took the oval office, people like Cynthia Lempert came to the Capitol, with a mission.
Lempert says that mission, is to tell people who say to give up--she's not.
"We can't just sit there and not say it, so that's what I say to them," said Lempert.
And, what Cynthia is saying...
"I wanted to do something on the actual Inauguration Day to show that I disapprove of this man."
Cynthia, joined at the Capitol by local politicians and others concerned about a Trump presidency--are ultimately there to spread one message, says event coordinator Carol Skillings.
"The fight's not over," said Skillings.
The Lansing protest had a different narrative than disturbances in Washington D.C. on January 20, where more than 200 people were arrested. Skillings says her goal with this gathering...
"I know that I needed words of hope and inspiration and courage, and a lot of other people needed that today too."
Words, and song--with a message heard throughout the Capitol.
