MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - From the outside looking in there is still plenty of work that needs to be done. Buckets of concrete can be seen on the floor and a tube of glue can be seen on the drive-thru window counter.

This is what the inside of the new location for Jimmy John's on Grand River Avenue in Meridian Township currently looks like.

While the Mattress Firm at 2049 West Grand River Avenue opened its doors earlier this year the Jimmy John's connected to it has yet to make its grand opening debut. It is still unknown when the sandwich shop will open.

The Meridian Township Board approved a special use permit to allow the site of a vacant tire shop to be changed to the Mattress Firm and Jimmy John's after it was previously denied a few months prior.

HOMTV reached out to Jimmy John's Corporate Headquarters for an update on when the new location would be opening but did not receive comment.

The Meridian Township Planning Department reported that the local Jimmy John's store is awaiting approval from corporate to design the inside of the building.
