ORIGINAL STORY: OKEMOS - The 2012 Art Walk is still months away, but the Meridian Township Downtown Development Authority is already making plans to revamp next year's event.

The annual Art Walk began three seasons ago when an Okemos business owner helped establish the the Downtown Development Authority, and out of their search for an event that would celebrate downtown businesses came the annual Art Walk. Though it has been successful in the past, committee members are not as pleased with the amount of traffic at this event. In addition to holding the event a bit earlier this year, they are hoping potential changes like a new event planner, and a parade with floats just might bring a bigger crowd.

Meridian Township Supervisor Susan McGillicuddy tells HOMTV, "We were disappointed that it wasn't well advertised and some of the events really were disappointing that had happened. So, we're looking this year to try to beef it up a little bit and see if that makes a difference."

McGillicuddy says the the committee is always open to suggestions form the public. The next Art Walk will take place May 19, 2012.
