UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Four Michigander honored for protecting our Great Lakes!

ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A statewide environmental group based in East Lansing recently held their bi-annual Great Lakes Awards Celebration honoring four award recipients for their dedication to protecting the state's natural resources.

Clean Water Actions is the state's largest non-profit environmental organization with over 200,000 members. This year the Great Lakes Award Celebration honored Mark Schauer as the Great Lakes Hero, Dave Dempsey as the Great Lakes Guardian, Michelle Hurd Riddick as the Great Lakes Champion, and Lansing's very own Brian Cenci as the Clean Water Innovator.

Clean Water Actions' Campaign Coordinator, Sarah Mullkoff says although all the recipients are not necessarily local, "They've all shown dedicated efforts toward bringing clean energy jobs to the state, protecting watershed from toxins and dioxins, and also clean water innovation with storm water management projects."

Nonetheless, one winner was particularly relevant to our city. Great Lakes Innovator Brian Cenci was honored for his dedication to the Tower Rain Project in Meridian Township, the largest low-impact design storm water project in the area.
