OKEMOS - For the past few months, Bennett Road traffic has been at a bit of a stand still with construction and detours slowing drivers down. Well, the wait is finally over.
The project began on July 14th and included removing the existing pavement, milling it off, regrading the gravel, and repaving on top of that. The project replaced Bennett Road’s surfaces from Okemos Road to Hagadorn Road through the round-about.
In addition the Ingham County Road Department (ICRD) replaced damaged storm drains in the area.
The ICRD is now putting the finishing touches on the project and expects to be completely finished by the contract end date, September 10th.
"Every project has its obstacles, this one had its own," said Project Engineer Dan Troia." In the big picture, it went really well."
The ICRD still has to replace damaged grass and finalize small details to make sure they are meeting exact requirements.
With this project being finished, the ICRD will begin new ones including modifications to Kinawa Road across the street.
