Paul Revere's Tavern Closes After 66
Years

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On July 26th, one of the first bars to the Meridian Township/East Lansing area closed its doors for good.

The bar has been in business for 66 years, the last 33 of those years being under its current ownership, Jim and Karen Driscoll.

The business was sold to new owners and will be moved to a new location. The location has not been released yet but owners say residents can expect an official announcement around September.

Jim and Karen declined comment but wrote in a press release the day of the bars closing, "Obviously, this is an emotional time for everyone. While we will always treasure our memories of the good times we've had over the years, we are focused on the future."

Meridian Township's Associate Planner, Peter Menser, said that there has been talk about an O'Reilly's Auto Parts store taking its place but the Township has not received any official documentation or issued any permits.

For now the bar will be closed until its relocation, but owners reassure that Paul Revere's New York style pizza will still be available in the Greater Lansing area.

"To all of the patrons we have served, from our regular customers who we enjoyed seeing often to those who dropped by occasionally, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts," said current owners in the press release. "You have made the last 33 years enjoyable, to say the least."
