UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Board recently discussed hooking the Greenwood Subdivision up to the public sanitary Sewer system.
A Greenwood resident brought the idea to the board in the fall of 2011. The resident wanted the option to connect to the public sanitary sewer system because they had a septic sewer system failure. As the township board researched the project, they came across several issues. a Major concern was the high cost with a low percentage of residents actually benefiting from the project.
Meridian Township Treasurer, Julie Brixie, said, "so we did have a number of individuals that were interested in it and its our responsibility to them to answer the question fully and take the time and effort that it takes to explore the issue fully and figure out what we’re gonna do.”
In the end the Township Board decided not to move forward with the sewer extension project. But, Treasurer Brixie did say it could be back up for discussion in the distant future when there is another round of septic tank failures or if all the residents go through their second septic sewer system.
