OKEMOS - On December 11, the Harris Nature Center Foundation hosted its first Wine in the Woods event this winter, featuring an evening walk in the woods by the Harris Nature Center.

With over 20 Attendees, this event featured an evening walk through the woods with Alison Goodman, a naturalist from the Harris Nature Center to guide them through the trails at night to reach an elevated porch as they took a look at the stars and the moon through the clear night sky.

Kati Adams, the Parks and Land Preservation Superintendent, stated, "We limited the numbers this year just to see how it was going to go. We have 28 people registered and coming to the program, and this a program where you are required to be over 21 years old, we know that there are other parks in the Lansing Area that have done events like this and people really enjoy it."

People who attended were encouraged to bring their favorite beverage while the center featured various snacks and supplies to make gourmet s'mores to enjoy around the campfire.

"This winter, we are bringing back snowshoe classes, we are gonna have snowshoe rentals when the snow cooperates, and we are also going to be hosting a couple of starlight snowshoe events."
