MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Sunday, Sept. 19, Music in Nature Concert Series concluded at the Harris Nature Center, located at 3998 Van Atta Road, Okemos.
The Harris Nature Center and HNC Foundation were excited to bring Music in Nature back to the community this year after a pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The community was invited to see a Michigan born and raised singer and songwriter Monte Pride perform at the new pavilion. Musical performances in the past have been performed at the circle gathering space, but have outgrown it since the Pretty Shaky String Band performed at their first musical event in 2021 back in June.
“It’s the perfect outdoor activity where people can feel safe to be outside and a relief to provide this kind of entertainment for people again,” said Kati Adams, Meridian Township Park and Land Preservation Superintendent and Harris Nature Center Coordinator. “This pavilion in the open area behind it actually allows people to spread out a lot better. It worked pretty well tonight and I can see the possibility of either location in the future.”
Adams thanked everyone who came and appreciates the support shown at the nature center, and looks forward to offering this event again next year.
