OKEMOS - The Okemos Masonic Center held a drawing on May 23rd to select this year's winners for their third annual Bike for Books program.
Members selected a boy and a girl out of 1,700 kids from seven different schools in Okemos and Haslett.
Member of the Okemos Masonic Center Mike Nevells explained the efforts that go towards supporting the program.
"The charitable foundation has a matching program up to 1500 dollars they match up what we raise and we have local businesses that make donations and Meijer's has indicated they may at some time even help with donating some of the bikes."
After members go through this process, there is a presentation held during the week of June 3rd through June 7th for each school to give bikes to the winners.
