EAST LANSING - On Saturday March 23, the Wharton Center for Performing Arts organized an on-site ticket sale between 8 AM to 12 PM for the iconic Broadway hit musical: Hamilton. About 300 to 350 people lined up as early as 6:30 AM outside the Wharton Center to receive numbered wristbands, that were given out starting at 8 AM, to participate in a drawing to get tickets.
Wharton Center Public Relations Manager, Bob Hoffman, shared how exciting it was to see so many people and what the event meant to Wharton Center and the community.
"We are really excited about Hamilton coming to Wharton Center we have been for a very long time for it to happen and it is finally here. This is really big news for Wharton Center, it is big news for East Lansing, Meridian Township all over because you think about the people who are coming they are going to be spending money in the community. So it's great news."
Bobbie Earley, one of the people who stood in line for tickets, was there as early as 8 AM to receive her wristband and got four tickets and met lots of friendly people.
"This was exciting I came at 8 and received my wristband and went into the car because I had to grade a bunch of papers and met with some friendly people we had a blast I don't see anyone that I know didn't see anybody earlier but there are just kind people here so we have enjoyed ourselves and the best part is I got four tickets to Hamilton so it's been great."
Showings for the hit musical will be from May 14 to June 2. Tickets are still available.
