MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - After a long-term joint investigation by members of the Meridian Township Police Department, Lansing Police Department , Eaton County Sheriff’s Office, Lansing Township Police Department as well as the Michigan State Police, Shaun Michael Cook, 31, of Lansing was sentenced to 102 months in federal prison after a series of Lansing area robberies.
The investigations lead to a series of armed robberies resulting in the resolution of 16 violent armed robbery cases affecting six different law enforcement agencies in the Lansing and Jackson areas.
Cook and his co defendants, Donald Charles Westmoreland, and Shakeem Luis Jones committed numerous robberies between late 2016 and early 2017.
Two of which were in Meridian Township including Subway at 3340 E. Lake Lansing Road on January 10, 2017 and Little Caesars located at 3340 E. Lake Lansing Road on May 1, 2017.
Cook, Jones, and Westmoreland each pled guilty earlier this year to interference with commerce by robbery and brandishing a firearm.
United States District Judge Janet T. Neff, who sentenced Cook, also sentenced Westmoreland to 87 months and Jones to 96 months. Cook was ordered to pay $2,139.21 in restitution and Jones and Westmoreland to pay $4,739.21.
