OKEMOS - Meridian Township and HOMTV are currently looking for two paid Multimedia Production & Communications Interns for the summer 2026 semester. The summer internship will run from May 11, 2026, to August 14, 2026.
Meridian Township's Communications Department oversees HOMTV, the Township's government access channel. The department also manages print and digital communications, including twenty social media accounts, two e-newsletters, a website, and more.
Under the direct supervision of the Multimedia Production and Operations Specialist and the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist, interns will gain hands-on experience in studio and video production, reporting, and social media and website management. Interns will leave the internship with a solid portfolio that includes video packages, social media campaigns, and written content. They will also learn key skills such as scriptwriting, on-camera presentation, and digital content creation. Previous experience is helpful but not required.
Essential Job Functions:
-Televising live coverage of Meridian Township Board and Commission meetings.
-Producing video packages using Sony DSLR cameras and editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.
-Conducting on-camera interviews.
-Writing scripts and reading from a teleprompter.
-Creating content for Meridian Township's social media pages and the website.
-Assisting with summer event promotion campaigns.
-Assisting with digital newsletter creation.
Interns work approximately 12 hours per week, including two 4-hour day shifts and select evenings spent crewing live, televised meetings.
This internship will be in-person at the Meridian Township Municipal Building (5151 Marsh Road, Okemos). At times, interns will be required to film off-site, so reliable transportation is required to fulfill weekly assignments.

Pay: $15.00 an hour
