HASLETT - An accomplished volleyball player is making her way to Haslett High School to coach the varsity volleyball team. The new coach has big plans for the team in the upcoming season and is ready to take the team to a new level.

Tennille Whitmore previously coached at Laingsburg High School for the last seventeen years and is now bringing her talents to Haslett High.

In a student athlete and parent volleyball meeting last Wednesday night at Haslett High School, Whitmore introduced herself and her big plans.

Whitmore played collegiate volleyball at Central Michigan University and then started her coaching career shortly after.

The talented coach has plans of unifying the team into a strong group of women and making the girls successful on and off the court.

She cares about grades, demeanors and respect just as much as she does about wins.

She also believes that well rounded volleyball players are what it’s going to take to get the girls to the top.

Whitmore says she’s ready to take the team to where she knows they can be and is hoping for a smooth transition.

“I hope it’s a smooth and really positive one," Whitmore said about her transitioning into the new school. "I hope that we’ll build trust and great relationships really quick and put our focus on great volleyball.”

Coach Whitmore is excited about Haslett’s fan base and parent involvement. She knows both fans and parents bring an energy to the players that is needed to get those wins.

Whitmore is a fair and caring coach who has the reputation of working hard and making sure her players and parents are always connected and up to date.

Open gym for the girls will begin soon, so the girls can start gearing up for summer conditioning and summer camps.

The coach hopes to take the girls to an overnight camp this summer at a nearby university so the girls can train and learn from professionals and prepare for their upcoming season in the fall.
