UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township Firefighters recently went to Spartan Stadium, but don’t worry it wasn’t for an emergency.
They were actually fully suited in gear, which weighs just over one hundred pounds, to walk up all 8 flights of stairs. They were practicing for the Climb Detroit event to be held in the Detroit Renaissance Center.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air.
Jeremy Hagerman, Meridian Firefighter/EMT and team leader, said, “Our goal for our team is to raise $1,000. That puts us, each individual to be a little bit more than $100. What we would like to do is any opportunity that we get, post up on Facebook, on any blogs, any opportunity that we have to spread the word and again this is a fundraiser.”
Fight For Air Climb Detroit is set to take place on March 4th, where they will walk up 70 floors which is 1,035 steps, in full gear.
