LANSING - HOMTV was invited to speak to two fifth grade classes at Pleasant View Academy in Lansing on May 17, 2018, to helped train the next crop of journalists.
Known for its active community involvement, HOMTV was elated to speak to Mrs. Ovenhouse's class and Mrs. Manson's class. Executive Producer and Internship Coordinator Brandie Yates brought two interns to the elementary school, Creative Production Intern Samantha Diehl and Reporting Intern Kayleigh Garrison, where they told students what it's like working in television production, let them operate the camera and taught them interviewing skills.
The students at Pleasant View Academy were bright, curious and asked a lot of questions. It was obvious that many of them were intrigued by the thought of working in television. They shared their own story ideas about what they would like to see on television and a few of them got the opportunity to interview each other and learn more about their classmates.
HOMTV saw future journalists at Pleasant View Academy, and who knows? Maybe a few of them will make their own videos at HOMTV one day.
