Gretchen Whitmer and Michigan Education Association March the Capitol

LANSING - This past Friday the Michigan Education Association (MEA) and Democratic Candidate for Governor Gretchen Whitmer, marched the Capitol in opposition to legislation allowing for teachers to carry guns in schools. The march was a part of the National Day of Action to End Gun Violence.

More than 400 members of the MEA joined forces to hand deliver over 17,000 petitions to the Capitol. They met at the Lansing Center before marching together, wearing bright orange in solidarity with others participating across the country.

Whitmer, MEA President Paula Hebart, and Vice President Chandra Madafferi led the march. Whitmer's Democratic bid for Governor was endorsed by the MEA earlier this year.
