Michigan State Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season at Big Ten Indoor Championships

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State University hosts the 2017 Big Ten Men's Indoor Tennis Championships from October 27-30 at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility and Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club.

The top men's tennis players from Big Ten Conference come together to compete for the fall season's singles and doubles championships. MSU freshman John Carlin achieved the best singles result of the team by advancing to the round of 16, lost to Chris Ephron from Northwestern University by 6-3, 6-3.

Another great rivalry takes place between MSU freshman Josh Mukherjee and Northwestern University Junior Jason Seidman. The match features great twists and turns and comes to a second set tiebreak. Seidman gets through the pressure avoiding the match to go to final set and claiming the win by 6-4, 7-6.

"I think everyone has an ultimate goal to win Big Ten Championship," said MSU Men's Tennis Head Coach Gene Orlando. "But still think we have work to do to get that. I mean the realistic goal is try to get to the tournament and again try to improve everyday."

Fresh blood is coming in to empower MSU men's tennis and they're ready to encounter a more challenging spring season.
