Haslett Pulls Out Major Win Against St. Johns

ST. JOHNS - After last weeks loss against Brandon High School, Haslett Football pulled out the win they were searching for. Sept. 8 the Vikings traveled to St. Johns High School, and held on until the very end.

At halftime St. Johns lead 16-14 but it would be Haslett's offense that carried the second half. Ben Brittain would start the third quarter with a 38-yard touchdown putting Haslett ahead at 21-16 with 8:27 left in the third quarter.

"We came out and our kids responded. St. Johns has tough physical kids, it was a war of attrition. We tried to wear them out a little bit in the second half and I think it had an affect at the end," said Head Coach, Charlie Otlewski.

A 33-yard touchdown by Haslett's Nate Magnusson would be the last touchdown on the board during the last five minutes of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter would remain scoreless and in interception by Ben Brittain would seal the deal as the Haslett offense and defense hung on.

"You have to have a group that makes everyone feel apart of it and create the atmosphere, our coaches created it and so did our seniors," said Otlewski.

Next week the Vikings will take on Mason at home.

"Were gonna be very motivated they've beat us three time in a row, we will continue to work hard but it's all about how you respond," he said.
