Winter Jobs Taking A Toll

Winter Jobs Taking A Toll

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The lack of snow earlier this winter caused some businesses to struggle, including snow removal services, ski rental businesses, and notably, the Harris Nature Center.

The Harris Nature Center's coordinator, Kit Rich, says she's found that the Nature Center has had fewer visitors wanting to ski and snow shoe this winter. She says people did come out when snow actually fell, but even the center's programs have seen a recent decline in attendance.

“I'm beginning to suspect that people have just finished with winter. When it didn't snow early on, I think everyone said, 'fine, we're moving onto Spring.' It's like the mindset has already moved on, so that's been a little bit of a challenge for us," says Rich.
