Food Trucks Will Now Be Permitted in the
Industrial Districts

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Mobile food vendors, also known as food trucks will now be allowed to operate in the Industrial District within Meridian Township.

During their meeting, earlier this month, the Township Board unanimously voted to adopt two amendments. The Zoning Amendment will allow instructional centers, mobile food vending, and outdoor seating to be permitted uses in the Industrial District. While a resolution to amend section 38 of the Mobile Food Units Ordinance will allow for mobile food vending in the Industrial District.
The Zoning Amendment was recommended for approval by both the Economic Development Corporation and the Planning Commission before reaching the Township Board.

During the Township Board Meeting, Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus shared why he would be voting to approve the amendments.

“There’s so little industrial centers and this make sense to have this and this is not going to cause any problems and will be an improvement to this particular street,” explained Clerk Dreyfus.
