Department Continues to Improve Local 
Parks With Nearly $1 Million Grant Fund

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board has granted the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department nearly $1 million in grant funding.

The department has received some funding for other upcoming projects as well. Of these include the $150,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund which will go to the construction of a new restroom building and to replace the footbridge in the Meridian Historical Village.

In addition, they have received $272,500 to build an accessible trail through Central Park and a fishing platform for the Central Park South Pond.

The department will also be working on the acquisition of an 80-acre parcel next to Ponderosa Subdivision and Legg Park for the Land Preservation Program with the $514,900 they received.

The Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to improve upon local park areas.
