Residents Share Concerns about
CATA's Bus Rapid Transit Project at
Community Sessions

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - CATA's community information session at the Meridian Township Municipal Building was supposed to run from 3:30-5:00. Thirty minutes had to be added, as the meeting about CATA's proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project was vehemently contested by both sides.

"There is no foundation for the BRT," Jeff Neilson, Meridian Township resident, said.

For many, the proposed addition of central bus lanes would detract from local businesses.

However, CATA said that these sessions allowed them to gain insight how to better lead the transition.

"Everybody's question and/or comment will be heard," Sandy Draggoo, CEO of CATA, said.

The Meridian Township Board is expected to revisit this issue at a meeting in October.
