Complete Streets Workshop

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Some good news for residents wanting better sidewalks and bike lanes on Township roads.

Meridian was awarded a $4,500 grant for construction projects like these calling it a "complete streets project."

The Township held a public forum and posted surveys online to get input from the community on how they wanted their roads to look. A big part of this project will be to include methods of transportation for people who may not own a car.

“Not everybody owns a car. Some people have to ride the bus. Some people like to bike or like to walk. They need to be able to do that easily" said Director of Public Works Ray Severy.

There is still a lot of planning to be done with this project, and it is not too late to have your opinions heard. Head over to the Township's homepage at www.meridian.mi.us and fill out a survey.
