Dry Conditions Lead to Township Burning Ban

Dry Conditions Lead to Township Burning Ban

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Monday June 27th Meridian Township was placed under a burning ban after no rain led to dry conditions.

The burning ban also led to the cancellation of the fourth of July fireworks which are set to be rescheduled for New Years Eve or New Years Day.

Township residents are also asked to refrain from using personal fireworks while the burning ban is in effect.

The burning ban will continue until conditions are less dry.

"Well with both the fireworks and the burn ban really it's gonna go until we get some significant rainfall and we get things to kind of green up, wetten down a little bit", said Meridian Township Fire Inspector Tavis Millerov.
