Shop With A Cop

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Officers got up at 8:00 am to start their shopping this year, at the Shop With A Cop event. Eligible kids participated and were paired up with from Meridian Township and other neighboring cities for a morning of holiday shopping.

Little shoppers were escorted to Wal-Mart with lights and sirens. Each kid had a hundred dollar budget.

"I'm just glad to come out and help them to have a better Christmas holiday," said Officer Greg Frenger of the Meridian Township Police Department.

Presents for family members were on most of the shopper's wish lists but the toy isle was the most popular. After shoppers were done picking out gifts, they headed to get their pictures taken with Santa.

"How can you help but have a wonderful time with the smiles that we've seen," said Santa Clause.

After kids finished shopping with their cop, their gifts were sent to the wrapping station were Santa's elves helped wrapped their gifts.

"I want to wish them a Merry Christmas, don't forget to leave ma cookie, and just have a wonderful winter and a wonderful summer too," said Santa.
