Late Inning Theatrics Push Fort Wayne
Past Lansing, 5-3

LANSING - First pitch went out at 7:05 p.m. at Cooley Law School Stadium and the Lansing Lugnuts came out swinging. Two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to give the Lugnuts an early 2-0 lead over the Fort Wayne Tincaps.

They pushed that lead to 3-0 and Lugnuts’ Right Hander Sean Reid-Foley was striking people out left and right until an RBI fielder's choice in the top of the 7th by Tincaps Jhonathan Pena got them on the board 3-1.

In the eighth, a pitching change by the Lugnuts and the Tincaps take full advantage connecting ball to bat off a pitch from Starlyn Suriel. Tincaps’ Michael Getty homers to chip away at the lead 3-2.

Dusty Isaacs closes out for the Lugnuts in the ninth, he quickly runs into trouble when Tincaps Austin Allen leads off with a rocket homer to right field tying the game at 3. Two batters later and a two-run homer off a single from Ty France and Pena gives Fort Wayne their first lead of the night, 5-3.

Tincaps’ reliever Phil Maton rallies up a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth, recording six outs and Lansing never comes back, final 5-3.

The Tincaps’ late turnaround wrecked a career-high seven innings pitched for Reid-Foley, who walked one and added seven strikeouts. Reid-Foley is the youngest player on the Lugnuts roster at 20-years-old and is considered the team’s top prospect.

The Lugnuts are road warriors starting tomorrow with a seven-game road trip to South Bend and Dayton. First pitch goes out at 7:35 p.m. on Friday in a match up between Taylor Saucedo (1-5, 5.26) and Cubs’ Ryan Kellogg (2-3, 4.83).
